This is one of my Android phone, bought specially to test our m-DictionaryApp project. I bought it on the last September 2010 (sponsored by a research grant). It was on Android 2.1 (eclair), and never been updated because I was waiting for the official update release by HTC.

Last week I realised that the official Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) update is available for HTC WildFire. Today I have the chance to download the Android 2.2 (Froyo + HTC Sense) update.

Cautious! – please back-up your important files.

HTC Wildfire is updating

Throughout this installing new OS phase, I could not do the screen capture using the AndroidScreenCast. It’s detected as offline by the AndroidScreenCast. So be patient coz it takes more than 10 minutes. Don’t update if you are waiting for an important call.

I detected one of the application com.htc.bgp is not working. I decided to force close. Force close is actually terminate the program.

Look at the home screen, there’s nothing changes. Still the same, should I be disappointed or not?

I’ve been trying to release this tutorial quite a while. At last after a long hard effort. Since HttpClient is not supported any more in Android SDK 23, I have to resort to org.json.JSONObject and java.net.HttpURLConnection library to do online database with JSON. The objective of this tutorial is to log-in from a mobile client with the username and password stored in an online database facility. STEP 1: Create a new Android project, this time choose the LoginActivity .

AutocompleteTextview items from SQLite database

AutoCompleteTextView is yet another basic controls in Android. The main purpose is to provide a suggestion list while you type on the textbox (as in the image below). This time instead of listing a regular ArrayList, I will show how to populate the list from a offline database table  through SQLite. Starts by creating a new project, create a BASIC PROJECT. –> the tutorial is here http://blog.kerul.net/2016/12/creating-new-android-studio-project.html .
