GenyMotion - alternatively faster Android emulator

The main reason to download Genymotion is simply because it is the better Android virtual device as compared to the official one provided by Google. Yes you may opt for real device debugging (which is the fastest). Yet when it comes to local database development, debugging the SQL file is not possible unless your device is rooted. Because the local database folder in Android is by default protected (need to be rooted to access them).

However you need to sign-up and login to the download page.

Choose "with Virrtual Box" if you have no virtualization software installed yet. Finish the download and install.

Once you've finished installing, just launch the Genymotion by clicking the shortcut icon.

Add a new device if you are a new user.

Choose you preferred device based on your PC RAM resources. Basically the bigger screen needs bigger RAM dedicated for the virtualization.


Finalize and hit NEXT.


And wait for the ISO image to dowload. 


Select the preferred ISO image and START.


WAIT again (as patient is a virtue :-) ...Walawei, the Android virtual device is running...


You may access the Android Device Monitor (or previously known as DDMS) by clicking the button shown by the arrow.

Installing Google AdMob into Android Apps

Multimedia Dictionary app for Android – with Source codes

I decided to publish the following source code of a Multimedia Dictionary app for Android. The apps is a dictionary of the following languages, Malay, Arabic and English. All the word entries are available in the locally (sqlite), however we do not have the complete word list. This code is specifically designed to support only Android 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3. This is due to lack of Arabic character support in the listed Android version. And there ‘s a special treatment to the Arabic characters which we found quite complicated. It won’t run beautifully on the Android 3.0 and above. Sorry for the lack of documentation, however if you’re familiar with Java in Android, it actually simple. I’ll do further documentation later.
